Introducing Natalie Ely: Our New Music Teacher
Our Lady of the Elms School is pleased to announce the appointment of Miss Natalie Ely as the new Music Teacher. Miss Ely joins the Elms with an impressive background in music education and a passion for fostering a love of music in students.
Miss Ely graduated summa cum laude from Liberty University with a degree in Choral Music Education. Throughout her college years, she demonstrated her expertise as a vocalist and collaborative pianist with Liberty’s Concert Choir and University Chorale. She also played a crucial role in preparing the chorale for performances with the university’s orchestra and showcased her versatility as a musician by participating in the Marching Band, Indoor Drumline, and Wind Symphony.
During her teaching career, Miss Ely has instructed students in general music and choir lessons. She has been actively involved in extracurricular activities such as the Glee Club. Her role as a choir director for middle school choirs included managing and directing musical performances, such as holiday concerts.
Her commitment to nurturing a love of music is evident in her dynamic approach to teaching. She connects music fundamentals to modern and world music, integrates music education with other subjects such as history and math, and encourages critical thinking and curiosity in her classroom. She firmly believes in the transformative power of the arts and strives to create an inclusive space where students can express themselves and grow.
“As a music teacher, my goal is to develop musical performances in which my students will explore new music while making learning fun. I encourage my students to grow to their full potential by creating engaging learning opportunities using a variety of instruments, songs spanning a wide array of genres and cultural backgrounds, and plenty of movement,” Miss Ely shared.
The administration at Our Lady of the Elms School is confident that Miss Ely’s enthusiasm, expertise, and innovative teaching methods will greatly enrich the school’s music program and inspire students to achieve their full potential.
